About the event

The story of Henry Carr, whose family settled in Holmfirth, and his dramatic escape from the Lodz Ghetto in Poland, will be the subject of an online fundraising talk on Thursday 3rdDecember in aid of Holmfirth Arts Festival.

Henry Carr, who was born Chaim Hershman in Poland in 1926, was married to Angela Roberts the former landlady of The Nook in Holmfirth. Now his eldest son, John Carr, has published a book of his life called ‘Escape from the Ghetto’ which chronicles his father’s incredible story and his survival, against the odds.
